What To Bring To Your Boudoir Shoot
In order to have a successful boudoir experience, you’ll need to bring your gorgeous self… plus a few other things that will make the experience go as smoothly as possible. Keep reading if you want to find out more!
#1: Lingerie
This may seem like a pretty obvious item, but I get asked many times: “What sort of options should I bring?”
My top 4 suggestions are as follows:
Bra and underwear matching set - we adore a good lingerie set, and love it even more when it’s matching! This brings a sense of cohesiveness to the photos
Bodysuit - I cannot stress this one enough. I. LOVE. BODYSUITS. You can dress it up or wear it on its own. It’s one piece so you know you won’t lose that pesky thong or bralette. There are SO many options out there for bodysuits and they look amazing on all body types! If you don’t have one yet, I would highly suggest treating yourself with one.
Accessories - shoes/heels, stockings, jewelry, toys (yes, sex toys like blindfolds, handcuffs, vibrators, etc. FYI: this will be a completely informed and consensual process, and boundaries will be set prior to any photos being taken)
Birthday suit - OK, technically this isn’t a lingerie piece, but still. This is a glorious option and you can dress it up with jewelry or a gorgeous lace curtain draped around you! (Just ask me to bring it ;) )
Quick tips: refrain from wearing tight-fitting clothing prior to the session (this includes the hairband on your wrist!!!), cut off the tags on your lingerie, and try on all your items prior to the session!
#2: Makeup
If you are a human who wears makeup, this is a reminder for you. Bring a makeup bag to the session with your mascara, lipstick, concealer, q-tips, and makeup remover just in case you’d like to touch something up pre- mid- or after the session! And for that matter, I think a hairbrush belongs under here too.
#3: Water bottle
Hydration is key! I mean, it doesn’t really have an effect on the photos… but you may get thirsty for a variety of reasons, so it’s always good to have a water bottle on hand.
#4: A towel
Depending on the theme you choose for your boudoir session, it may involve something that can get messy! For example: pouring honey all over yourself - it can get sticky and messy, so bringing one is highly suggested! Just note: if we haven’t discussed a potentially messy theme before your session, chances are I will not be bringing something like that without you knowing about it, so no need to worry!
That’s all for now! Think I missed something or want to learn about another boudoir topic? Email me at iryna@arcadiaboudoir.ca and let me know. :)
